The Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia has endorsed Senator Ralph Hudgens in the runoff for Insurance Commissioner. He received the most votes in the Republican Primary in a crowded field and will be in a runoff on August 10.
IIAG President Stark Harbour announced the association’s endorsement. “Every day independent agents seek to serve the best interests of their policyholders. Ralph Hudgens is also a true consumer champion. He is a man of personal integrity and clearly shares our commitment to Georgia’s insurance-buying public.”
Executive Director Gould Hagler added, “Ralph Hudgens is a leader who has stood up for a balanced approach to regulation. I am confident he will continue to do that in the Insurance Commissioner’s Office.”
Today's announcement from the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia was greeted with appreciation by Hudgens. "Insurance agents are the backbone of this industry and represent both insurance carriers and customers." He added, "I share a special connection with the independent agents who are small business people, who place capital at risk, meet a payroll and serve customers.“
From a political standpoint, their support means "votes in the ballot box,” said Hudgens. “There are agents in every county and they are highly respected business people. Their support will help make the difference for me in the August runoff and in November against the Democrats."

Please Help Ralph Hudgens - A Note From Executive Director Gould Hagler
IIAG members can play an important role in this election. This is a race where opinion leaders will have a huge impact. You can have a big influence on the outcome by communicating with your clients and others in your community.
I know Ralph. He is a successful businessman and an experienced legislator. He has a conservative, pro-business philosophy. He knows that the best way to serve the interests of consumers is to foster a competitive market. He knows that too much government regulation is not just bad for business but bad for consumers.
Ralph is knowledgeable on insurance issues and will also bring sound executive skills to the Insurance Department. He has a superb relationship with the members of the General Assembly, an important component of the job.
I know Ralph and so do many of our members. He and his wife Suzanne have attended every IIAG convention since he became chairman of the Senate Insurance in 2005. We know him to be a man of character and integrity. He will make an outstanding Insurance Commissioner. The runoff election is August 10. Please vote for Ralph and encourage others to do so.
Gould Hagler, Executive Director
